Industrial linear shafts, also known as optical shafts or guide rods, are critical mechanical components used to achieve high-precision linear motion in modern automation systems. This results in surface hardness above HRC60, ensuring excellent wear resistance and corrosion protection.

Linear shafts are widely applied in CNC machines, laser cutters, 3D printers, industrial robots, and precision measuring equipment. Their primary role is to work in conjunction with linear bearings (such as the LM series) to form a low-friction, high-accuracy, and repeatable linear motion system. In high-speed or high-frequency reciprocating applications, they provide stable guidance and significantly improve motion precision and equipment longevity.

Depending on installation needs and operating environments, linear shafts can be classified as solid shafts, hollow shafts, or supported shafts (e.g., SBR, TBR series). To ensure precise assembly and smooth operation, they are usually manufactured to a tolerance grade of h6 or better and can be custom-machined with turned ends, threads, or chamfers to meet specific requirements.

When selecting a shaft, key factors to consider include load capacity, motion frequency, environmental conditions (humidity and temperature), and the type of compatible bearing. Shaft diameters typically range from Φ6 mm to Φ50 mm, and lengths can be customized according to equipment specifications. For applications requiring high corrosion resistance—such as in the food or medical industries—stainless steel shafts (e.g., SUS304 or SUS440C) are ideal.
